1. A Nutritious Food
In most ancient cultures, honey has been used for both nutritional purposes and for medicine. The composition of honey is mainly fructose and glucose. During digestion, fructose and glucose are absorbed easily into the blood and can be used for energy requirements for the body. A daily dose of 20 grams of honey provide about 3% of daily energy requirements.
2. Vitamins, Minerals & Trace Elements
Though small, the amount of vitamins and minerals in honey contain a number of important trace elements. The minerals, chrome, manganese and selenium, are all of nutritional importance, especially for children 2 to 15 years old, and are found in honey. (Please note, honey isn’t to be given to infants under 12 months of age)
3. Antioxidant
Honey is known to have antioxidant and antibacterial properties are beneficial to health when taken regularly and in moderation. Honey is sometimes called the ‘Super food’ for its health benefits that it can provide.
